Top Golfers Head to TPC Twin Cities

The 3M Open is set to bring a field of golfers to Blaine, Minnesota, for a week of competition. Tournament officials have confirmed a 144-player field, which includes golfers from 21 countries. Among those participating are 53 of the top 125 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, highlighting the event’s continued momentum.

Hollis Cavner, the 3M Open Executive Director, expressed pride in welcoming golfers to Minnesota. He noted the strong field reflects the support received from fans, partners, and volunteers, anticipating an unforgettable week of competition and fan engagement at TPC Twin Cities.

The field features top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, along with Hideki Matsuyama, Tom Kim, and Gary Woodland. The roster also includes a mix of PGA TOUR stars, major champions, past winners, and emerging talent. The full field list was finalized, though players who finished in the top 10 at the Open Championship or the Corales Puntacana Championship may still join.

Course Conditions and Player Expectations

TPC Twin Cities, a par 71 course stretching 7,431 yards, is known for its fair test. It features three par 5s, which could benefit long hitters, provided they avoid the 3½-inch bluegrass rough. Despite its length, the course annually ranks near the PGA TOUR’s average in driving distance, suggesting multiple strategies for success.

The bentgrass greens, averaging 6,500 square feet, are designed to equalize play on approach shots and create scoring opportunities. These greens are prepared to roll up to 13 feet as measured by the Stimpmeter, encouraging aggressive play and putting.

Last year, the scoring average of 68.84 set a tournament record. This was largely attributed to calm wind conditions throughout most of the event. Similar calm air is forecast for this week, with prevailing breezes expected from westerly directions early on, potentially shifting north by Sunday. Daytime highs before the cut are anticipated to be in the mid-80s, with temperatures possibly rising into the mid-90s by the final day.

Defending Champion and Notable Participants

Kurt Kitayama will defend his title, aiming to become the first back-to-back winner of the event. Since the inaugural tournament in 2019, every winner has had at least one prior start at TPC Twin Cities before securing a victory. The only debutant to win was Matthew Wolff in the first edition.

Among the major champions in the field are Hideki Matsuyama, who won the Masters in 2021; Scottie Scheffler, a major winner including the Masters in 2022; Jason Day, winner of the PGA Championship in 2015; Lucas Glover, who claimed the U.S. Open in 2009; Gary Woodland, a U.S. Open champion in 2019; and Brian Harman, who won The Open in 2023.

Past 3M Open champions returning to compete include Kurt Kitayama (2025), Lee Hodges (2023), Tony Finau (2022), and Cameron Champ (2021). Recent PGA TOUR winners in 2026 also participating are Scottie Scheffler (American Express), Ricky Castillo (Puerto Rico Open), Gary Woodland (Texas Children’s Houston Open), Brandt Snedeker (ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic), Steven Fisk (ISCO Championship), and Tom Kim (Genesis Scottish Open).
