N-COPST leadership pays a courtesy call to the new Director General of GES

N-COPST leadership pays a courtesy call on the new Director General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah. The visit by the Executive Body of the National Council of Private School Teachers (N-COPST) on  (Friday 4th November 2022) was among other things aimed at welcoming and congratulating him on his new appointment.

The Director General of Education, Dr. Eric Nkansah was happy to see that there is the existence of a teacher union for the private sector, which has a department that has been given accreditation by the National Teaching Council as a service provider.

Dr. Eric Nkansah narrated what he went through when he was a teacher in the private sector and told us that, he knew there are challenges within the private schools, and he is ready to assist us to solve them

The Executive Director of N-COPST, Mr. Ackon James, told the new Director General of Education that, a major need in the private sector is the Policy Framework on Condition of Service that will protect the workers and the school. In his reply, Dr. Eric Nkansah said that this will involve the various stakeholders and it is not an easy task.

N-COPST Director told the new GES Boss about the non-professional teachers’ license and the process involved. Dr. Eric Nkansah promised to contact the Registrar of the National Teaching Council.

N-COPST Director, Mr. Ackon James chipped in the recruitment of N-COPST Registered members (private school teachers) into GES. The GES Boss said there may be recruitment in the first quarter in 2023.

In a related development, Private School Teachers are to apply for their Staff ID numbers from ncopst.org. The acquisition of the staff ID will make holders become members of the council and also give them the chance to access the benefits of being a member.
