According to DAILY GUIDE sources, the exhumed bodies included several deceased chiefs and royals of Amanase; their presence at the palace is said to have caused problems recently when some members of the royal family found them. This made the Suhum police under the command of Crime Officer ASP Yeboah Oscar to storm the palace to recover the bodies and skeletons as the Gyaasehene was detained and forced to write a statement about the incident.

After many minutes of back and forth with the Gyaasehene and some of his sub-chiefs, the door to the room where the exhumed bodies had been packed was forcibly opened, and the human remains were then repacked into six “Ghana must go” bags while certain rituals were being performed.

According to the Gyaasehene, Obenfo Addo Agyekum, a community durbar was held before the exhumation of the bodies and after the cemetery was sold to an investor. He further mentioned that the exhumation was carried out to make room for the investor to develop the area and that they needed land to rebury the dead but were unable to find it.

Addo Agyekum, the owner of Titi-Atenpong Herbal Centre, claimed that although they sent two dead bodies to Suhum Government Hospital, they were only able to bury one of them while the other remains at the mortuary. According to an insider, the chief has been having strange nightmares and hearing the sound of drums beating at night.

While this was going on, information reached the Police  that the dead Nifahene and  one  Oheneba were also being kept in a particular room on the other side of Osaberima Asamoah  Asare I, the chief of Amanase, who is still alive but unable to  perform his duties because of his  senior age.
