Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has shared an emotional tribute to midfielder Jayden Adams following his death. The coach described Adams as an intelligent and versatile player, capable of performing effectively in multiple positions.
Tributes and Impact on the Team
Cardoso expressed his admiration for Adams, stating, “You made us play better. You made me a better coach through the football you helped us play. We will carry you in our hearts wherever we go.” He recalled Adams’ quiet nature, saying, “You smiled, you laughed, you enjoyed and became one of us. You never spoke much. You liked simple things.” The coach also mentioned Adams’ distinctive habits, such as having a toothpick at the corner of his mouth and wearing socks with flip-flops.
The coach further elaborated on Adams’ qualities, highlighting his intelligence and adaptability. Cardoso remarked that Adams was tactically well-developed and could play in various positions, contributing to the team’s improved performance. He also shared that they had spoken just days before Adams’ death, and everything seemed normal and peaceful.
Sundowns has postponed its pre-season travel plans to Austria following Adams’ passing.
