Chelsea Football Club announces Circle Internet Group as Principal PartnerChelsea Football Club announces Circle Internet Group as Principal Partner

Chelsea Football Club has announced a significant partnership with Circle Internet Group, Inc., an internet financial platform company. This collaboration designates Circle as a Principal Partner and the official front-of-shirt sponsor for the club, commencing with the 2026/27 season.

The partnership will see the Circle and USDC brands featured on the front of the shirts for Chelsea’s Men’s, Women’s, and Academy teams. The debut appearance of the new sponsorship will be during Chelsea FC men’s first Premier League home game of the season this Sunday against Brighton.

A New Era for Financial Platforms in Football

This partnership arrives as stablecoins are transitioning from early adoption into the mainstream. This shift presents an opportunity to make money more accessible and useful, similar to the internet. By reducing the costs and friction associated with moving value, stablecoins aim to broaden participation in the global economy.

Circle, established in 2013, is recognized as a pioneer in digital assets, contributing to the development of the internet’s financial system. At the core of its operations is USDC, described as a leading regulated stablecoin. USDC functions as a digital dollar, facilitating global money movement with internet speed and continuous availability.

Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder and CEO of Circle, stated that the company built USDC with the belief that money should operate seamlessly for everyone, everywhere, mirroring the internet’s functionality. He added that the partnership with Chelsea connects Circle with a global sports community that shares this borderless vision.

Kash Razzaghi, Chief Commercial Officer at Circle, highlighted that the partnership reflects a shared outlook on global trends. He noted that Chelsea connects a vast number of people across various borders, much like USDC, which is digital money designed to move across those same borders. Razzaghi suggested that seeing USDC on the iconic Chelsea shirt demonstrates the future of global finance, characterized by openness, borderlessness, and inclusivity.

Chelsea’s Vision for Digital Evolution

Jason Gannon, President of Chelsea FC, commented that this partnership positions Chelsea at the forefront of football’s digital evolution. He emphasized that both organizations are focused on the future and committed to innovation for long-term success. Gannon expressed anticipation for the journey with Circle, aiming to introduce the company to the Chelsea family and enhance club operations.

Aki Mandhar, CEO of Chelsea FC Women, expressed enthusiasm for introducing Circle and USDC to the Chelsea Women family during their inaugural season at Stamford Bridge. She noted that both Chelsea Women and Circle excel at forging connections between people and looks forward to bringing USDC to the CFCW fanbase.

Todd Kline, President of Commercial at Chelsea FC, remarked on the alignment between Circle’s efforts to change global money movement and Chelsea’s ambition to redefine what it means to be a global football club. He described the partnership as more than just a logo on a shirt, representing a collaboration with a partner actively building something new.

The gold lettering of ‘USDC by Circle’ will be displayed on the front of Chelsea’s latest blue home strip, complementing the club crest and the Nike manufacturers’ logo, as well as the central Club World Cup winners’ badge that the team continues to wear this season.

Chelsea had previously commenced the season without a front-of-shirt sponsor, following the expiration of a short-term agreement with British Artificial Intelligence (AI) company IFS at the end of the last term. Prior to this, the club had similar short-term arrangements with Emirati property development company DAMAC and American sports data and technology firm Infinite Athlete, having not had a long-term front-of-shirt sponsor since their partnership with mobile network and communications company Three concluded in 2023.

The Chelsea Women’s team, multiple trophy winners, secured the FA Women’s Super League for a sixth consecutive year in 2025, marking their eighth overall victory. They have also won the Women’s FA Cup six times and the FA Women’s League Cup four times, reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2021. In the 2020/21 and 2024/25 seasons, the team achieved a domestic treble of trophies.
