Khusanov’s Impact and Development
Manchester City has announced a new contract for Uzbek international defender Abdukodir Khusanov, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2031. Khusanov, who joined City in January 2025, has quickly established himself as a key player, demonstrating significant growth during his first 18 months in English football.
The defender’s performances in the 2025/26 season saw him form a strong partnership with Marc Guéhi at centre-back. He featured in 16 of the team’s last 19 Premier League games and played crucial roles in the successful FA Cup and League Cup finals. Khusanov’s journey to Manchester City began in January 2025, with his initial performances in the 2024/25 Premier League season including important victories against Newcastle and Spurs.
