Recently, the Barcelona football club president shared some information with journalists about the club’s work on its metaverse and cryptocurrency.

In his statement, he noted that the club is focused on independent development to compete on equal terms with other clubs in this direction. And players already have some NFT-related clauses in their contracts.

Also at the beginning of this year, it became known that the Manchester City football club is also planning to launch its metaverse together with Sony.

In a related development, Disney has appointed a metaverse development director. Executive director of Disney Bob Chapek believes that the metaverse is “the next great frontier of storytelling”.

In November, Chapek said that the company has long been ready to begin the journey into the metaverse. For this Disney has appointed Mike White as the executive director to lead its metaverse strategy.

In his new role, Mike White will provide resources, explore partnerships, and encourage the sharing of knowledge about the Metaverse.
