Transfer Activity and Player Movements

Manchester United is reportedly working on several potential player acquisitions as the new season approaches. Among the targets is young midfielder Louis Page, with reports suggesting the club is nearing an agreement for a deal that could include £10 million plus add-ons with Leicester City. If completed, Page would join Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Karl Darlow as new signings for the club.

The club is also said to be maintaining interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. However, United may face competition from Chelsea for the England international. Securing Wharton is anticipated to require an offer around £85 million.

Another player linked with a move to United is Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye. United has reportedly made contact regarding a possible transfer for the teenager. Reports indicate that Liverpool has withdrawn from the pursuit of Mbaye, citing the potential cost of a joint transfer for Mbaye and teammate Bradley Barcola, which was estimated at €200 million. Mbaye himself is reportedly valued between €40-50 million.

Mbaye, who has made 41 appearances for PSG, scored against Michael Carrick‘s side in a pre-season friendly. He also became the youngest African to score at a World Cup. His potential departure from PSG could be influenced by increased competition for places, especially if PSG finalises a move for Ferran Torres.

Defensive and Midfield Reinforcements

United’s pursuit of a left-back could see renewed hope regarding Newcastle‘s Lewis Hall. This comes after reports of Newcastle making progress in talks with Benfica for full-back Amar Dedic. Hall is reportedly keen on a move from Newcastle to Manchester.

In the midfield, German football expert Christian Falk has indicated that United is interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae. Min-jae previously played for Fenerbahce and Napoli, where he contributed to his side winning the league title in Serie A. During 45 appearances across all competitions, he made four goal contributions and helped secure 17 clean sheets.

United also reportedly maintains a long-standing interest in Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. However, Newcastle is now said to be actively exploring a deal for Baleba, potentially impacting United’s pursuit.

Marcus Rashford’s Return and Other Departures

Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United after spending a season on loan with Barcelona. He was included in the 26-man squad for a friendly match against AC Milan. Rashford’s return has been met with varied reactions, but Youri Tielemans, who played alongside Rashford at Aston Villa in 2025, has praised his attitude and qualities.

Former Manchester United midfielder Fred has signed a contract until 2029 with his boyhood club Atletico Mineiro, following the mutual termination of his spell at Fenerbahce. The 33-year-old returns to the Brazilian side where he began his youth career. Additionally, former United forward Jadon Sancho is reportedly considering options abroad after his contract at Old Trafford expired, despite receiving offers from Premier League clubs. Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances.

United will begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign away at newly-promoted Hull City on Saturday, August 22, with a 12:30 pm kick-off.
