Haruna Iddrisu has been demoted from Minority Leader by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a lawmaker for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, has taken his seat. James Klutse Avedzi was expelled by the party from his position as deputy minority leader.
Kofi Armah Buah, member of parliament for Ellembelle, has also taken his post.
On January 24, a notice from the party’s general secretary, Fiifi Kwetey, stated: “It has become necessary for you to deploy you from your current position as Deputy Minority Leader with immediate effect.”
“I wish on behalf of the party to express our deepest appreciation to you for your service over the years in this capacity,’ the statement included.
It further said” please kindly arrange with the new officer to effect the necessary handing over processes. Please accept our assurance of the highest regard.”
The party claims that these adjustments are components of its restructuring exercise as it prepares for the 2024 elections.
However, the party did not go into detail on why the changes were made.
